Things to remember when ordering concrete

  • The amount of concrete you require. Click here to use the Slab/Wall Calculator on this site.
  • What the application is ie. Sidewalk, basement floor, garage floor, grade beam, driveway, piles, etc.
  • How pliable you would like the concrete to be, the pliable qualities of concrete is measured in slump, most residential work is ordered at a 100mm slump.
  • Whether or not you require air entrainment, as a general rule if the concrete is indoors ie. A basement floor air entrainment is not required, if the concrete is outdoors ie. A driveway it requires air entrainment.
  • Whether or not you require accelerator, and what percentage, accelerator can be ordered in either one or two percent, what accelerator does is shortens the initial set time so that the concrete finisher can start the process earlier. This product is often used in colder weather.
  • What kind of cement required, in Manitoba we use two main kinds of cement General use (GU) and Higher sulfate resistant (HSR) most applications require GU while only applications such as piles require HSR. Unsure? Simply ask one of our staff, we will gladly assess your application.
  • What size of aggregate you would like, the standard size of stone used is 20mm however, for a small additional fee you can request either 14mm or 10mm stone.
  • How long you will take to unload our truck, when ordering concrete it is not uncommon to need multiple trucks to deliver the product, this is why we need to know how long it will take you to unload one truck so that we can coordinate when to ship out the following truck(s).
  • And finally, when is the concrete required, the more notice we are provided the better for both parties however, we do require at least 1 days notice on most occasions.
